Trump to visit UK for 75th anniversary of D-Day

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will visit the United Kingdom and France in June to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and shore up relations with both countries, the White House said Tuesday.

Mr. Trump will have a bilateral meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, who is steeped in thorny talks over leaving the European Union, during the first leg from June 3 to 5.

The president and Mrs. Trump will also attend a D-Day ceremony in Portsmouth, the southern coastal city that served as a critical launching site for the Allied landing at Normandy, France.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the U.K. trip is at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II.
