A worker at a Monmouth County car wash was seriously injured and had to be airlifted by helicopter to a hospital after she was pinned between two cars on Sunday, authorities said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was working at the Garden State Car Wash on Route 35 in Middletown when a car leaving the wash bay struck the back of another vehicle that was already parked outside, police said. She was between the two cars when they collided, police said.

The woman was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and her condition was not immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation and police ask anyone who saw the incident to call Middletown Township police Sgt. Cliff O’Hara at (732) 615-2045.
