Lakewood ‘Grocery Scammers’ busted as part of ring that targets local supermarkets


On Monday August 26, 2019 Pablo Rivera, 33 and Milca Bermudez, 54, of Lakewood, were arrested at their residence located at 215 Kennedy Blvd. ,for their part in a fraudulent credit card scheme.

An investigation into the occupants of 215 Kennedy Blvd was launched after the owner of FoodEx reported a pattern of suspicious home delivery orders over the last two months. The suspects would place fairly large orders for cleaning supplies and then cancel the stolen credit card charge after the items were delivered.

Further investigation conducted by Det. Kevin Martin resulted in the arrests and recovery of supplies all believed to be part of the ring from several local food markets including, FoodEx, Gourmet Glatt, Seasons and Kosher Village.

At this time the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
