Gov. Murphy Orders U.S. and N.J. Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff In Honor Of Former Senate Minority Leader Thomas Gagliano

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 66 on Tuesday, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Wednesday to honor the life of former New Jersey Senate Minority Leader Thomas Gagliano.

“Senator Gagliano was an exemplary public servant who devoted himself to Monmouth County, and was instrumental in the creation of what is now NJ TRANSIT,” Governor Murphy said in a statement.

“Although we have lost Senator Gagliano, his legacy will continue to live on. Tammy and I send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Murphy added.

Gagliano, who represented Monmouth County in the New Jersey State Senate from 1978 to 1989, died Saturday night.

He was 87.

This is the third day in a row that Governor Murphy ordered flags to be flown at half-staff.
