BUSTED: Midtown jewel heist suspect caught in Florida

The NY Post reports One of the three robbers who pulled off a brazen robbery at a 47th street jewelry store, owned to Bucharaian Jews last month, has been nabbed in Florida, officials said Tuesday.

William Sweeney Jr., assistant director-in-charge of the FBI said “In the day and age of technology and cameras, you would think robbers trying to pull off a cinematic heist would think twice.” Adding, “Their mistakes should be a warning to everyone wanting to be a copycat: You will get caught and pay the price for breaking the law.”

A month ago the NYPD said it feels it is ‘closing in’ on the suspects.

Law enforcement reviewed surveillance video and spoke to multiple witnesses. The men tied up workers at Avianne and Co. located in Manhattan’s Diamond District on Sunday.

When they left the store, no taxi would pick them up, “Nobody would pick them up,” a New York City Police Department official told the newspaper. “They seemed to have it all worked out, except how to get away.”

In the end, they ‘somehow’ managed to getaway.
