Aryeh Deri: Tlaib’s hate for Israel trumps ‘love for her grandmother’

After Tlaib backed out of her Israel trip – or as Tlaib referred to it, her ‘Palestine trip,’ Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said “Rep. Tlaib just tweeted that she won’t be coming to Israel. Just yesterday she sent me a letter, asking to visit her 90 year old grandmother saying, “it might be my last chance to meet her”.

Deri added “I approved her request as a gesture of goodwill on a humanitarian basis, but it was just a provocative request, aimed at bashing the State of Israel. Apparently, her hate for Israel overcomes her love for her grandmother.”

Earlier GL reported Deri’s office published what it said was Tlaib’s written request, on congressional stationery dated Thursday, in which she said she wanted to visit her grandmother, who is in her 90s.

In her request, she wrote: “I would like to request admittance to Israel in order to visit my relatives, and specifically my grandmother, who is in her 90s and lives in Beit Ur al-Fouqa. This could be my last opportunity to see her. I will respect any restrictions and will not promote boycotts against Israel during my visit. Thank you, Rashida Tlaib.”

However, she changed her mind.
