100 billboards were put up across New Jersey that say Gov Murphy, Who is Josh

Who is Josh Haines?

Josh Haines was injured in a car crash.  His medical treatment left him with more than $25,000 in unpaid medical bills.  He sued the person who caused the crash for the cost of his medical treatment.  In March 2019, the NJ Supreme Court decided his case.  The court ruled that car accident victims have to pay their own medical bills, even if they didn’t cause the accident.

The Court ruled that ANY person whose auto policy has less than the “standard” medical benefits limit has to pay for their medical treatment up to $250,000.  The court’s ruling has a devastating impact on low-income people who cannot afford to buy auto policies with higher coverage limits.  If you are involved in an auto accident, you could be stuck with thousands of dollars in medical expenses, leading to credit problems, bankruptcy, or worse.  The insurance industry is thrilled about this decision. reports the legislation is now in Murphy’s hands. And the billboard ads are there to nudge him to sign it.

“We’re just trying to raise awareness,” said Brandon Broderick, the River Edge-based personal injury attorney who paid for the billboards, which began running on Tuesday.
